Format review is really a waste of time. The requirements are different each time, and each editor has their own preferences, which feels very unprofessional. With the major revisions suggested by the reviewers and the rejection from the editor, BMC Genomics is definitely starting to decline. I do not recommend submitting.

The initial editor was very good, but after changing editors, I couldn't directly receive the emails sent back by the reviewers.
It took a total of 7 months, and we asked for reviewer comments. The editor-in-chief sent them to everyone, but another editor said a system change was needed.
Since I never received the reviewer comments, I resubmitted the paper as it was, and it was rejected.
They said it didn't fit the scope, and by this time, it was already the third submission.
Furthermore, this journal has a pre-submission quality control, which is just for formatting. It's usually a waste of time to make formatting changes before acceptance. Also, the standards for each quality control round were different. We had already passed round A, but then they wanted to make some suggestions in round B.
I sincerely do not recommend submitting to this journal unless your paper is very well polished, as the editing staff was previously very disorganized.
