Submitted for review for about a week, the initial review had four reviewers from multiple interdisciplinary backgrounds, whose professional opinions far exceeded those of the authoritative journal in the field, ES, previously submitted to.

After the first round of major revisions, there were two additional rounds of external reviews. Three reviewers agreed to accept the submission, while one still had reservations. After making the necessary adjustments, a third round of external review was initiated, but that reviewer never accepted the submission. The editorial board, managing editor, and chief editor then held a tripartite meeting to discuss minor formatting suggestions.

Following the second round of revisions, the submission remained at "revision submitted to journal" for a month without any progress. After sending a reminder email, it was accepted the next day.

Overall, the experience of submitting to this journal, known for its high impact and reputation, was quite positive. The speed of the process was impressive, making it an excellent choice for a discipline like civil engineering, which has few top-tier journals.
