The submission has been with the editor for almost three months.
During this period, I followed up twice. The first time, I sent an email after one month with the editor but received no response. The second time, after two months, I contacted Elsevier customer service to inquire about the progress, but still no results.
After nearly three months, the submission was suddenly rejected without any reason given.
