Compared to the main journal, the processing speed of this one is considered fast. The review for the submission on 5.5 came back on 6.13, with four reviewers providing major revisions. It was very professional and direct, with clear instructions to supplement the data. The revised manuscript was submitted three weeks later, but due to a long experimental period and a bit of procrastination, an additional week was needed before resubmission. It took a total of one month for the manuscript to be accepted. The reviewers found no issues after about three weeks, and the editor provided a conditional acceptance. However, the format of Joule was a bit unusual and required three rounds of revisions before finally being accepted on 8.15. The process was challenging and painful, but the outcome was rewarding. It is satisfying to see the hard work pay off and finally see a glimmer of success after many sleepless nights. Research requires perseverance and dedication, and I hope everyone can achieve their goals. Let's encourage each other in this journey!

I have tried to provide detailed time and information above. Joule's review is indeed strict, the reviewers are very professional, they can see the value of the article as well as its shortcomings. However, innovation and solid research are key to the article. It doesn't have to be perfect in all aspects. If Joule's editor recognizes your work, they will not reject excellent manuscripts because of one reviewer. I hope everyone has confidence and tries more.

August 1, 2024: Pre-accept (All three reviewers of the revisions accepted, the rejecting reviewer still rejected without specific issues raised. They only agreed to resolve his major concerns but considered it not comprehensive enough to meet Joule standards. The editor noted the rejection but believed the article was innovative and substantial enough to attract attention and discussion. They agreed to accept formally after incorporating the rejection's feedback and gave three days for formatting modifications)

The journal is a good one, and most of the articles in it are very well-written. However, sometimes I feel that there are articles that are slightly less rigorous than my own work that get published in it, so sometimes it's also a matter of luck, haha. Overall, Joule is indeed quite challenging now. In the field of energy materials, I personally feel that it is at a level below top journals like JACS, Angewandte Chemie, Advanced Materials, and Energy & Environmental Science, but above smaller journals like Nano Energy
