Review Process: The overall review process has been fast-paced. During the first round of revisions, the system quickly showed "All Reviews Complete," but then the status reverted to "With Editor." It is speculated that this may have been due to the editor's decision to add additional reviewers, possibly because one of the original reviewers, while indicating acceptance of the revisions, did not explicitly check the final option of "agree to accept." This step extended the review process by about a month and a half.
Formatting Requirements: The journal has extremely strict formatting requirements. After the article was provisionally accepted, three rounds of modifications and confirmations were made with the editor regarding formatting issues such as references, figure and table captions, in order to meet publishing standards. It is recommended to carefully check the author guidelines before submitting to expedite the later stages of the process.

I made four rounds of revisions, incorporating feedback from two months of first-round review, from four reviewers, with dozens of comments. The suggestions greatly improved the quality of the manuscript, and were professional and meticulous. I replied with a 69-page letter, much longer than the manuscript itself. This journal really should not be downgraded in status; the review process is very strict, the submission difficulty is high, and the editors are very responsible.

I must speak for the journal "iScience". As a sub-journal of Cell and a comprehensive journal, it has been steadily in the second quartile since its establishment in 2018, with an annual publication volume of around 2500 papers in recent years. However, it is far from reaching the level of nearly 30,000 papers like Science Reports (SR). Similarly, as a comprehensive journal, it is reasonable to have a slightly larger publication volume, with six major directions under the comprehensive journal, averaging about 400-500 papers per direction. Now it has been downgraded to the third quartile, ranking behind SR, which is truly incomprehensible. Moreover, the impact factor of this journal has increased this year. Have you really submitted to this journal? Do you know how difficult it is to submit to this journal? With the new ranking, everyone on various platforms and forums is surprised and complaining that this journal can be downgraded to the third quartile. Many scholars have publicly stated that the submission difficulty of this journal is even higher than that of the first quartile. After being rejected by this journal, they were accepted by the first quartile... Regarding the submission difficulty, I am currently accepting it. I find it truly unbelievable that it has been downgraded. Honestly, personally, after submitting, I don't think it is any worse than the top of the second quartile. The review requirements are not low at all, with 4-5 reviewers being common, and rigorous data, transparency, and mechanism requirements. It is normal to go through three or four rounds of revisions, and even up to 8-9 rounds. Moreover, the journal has very high review and formatting requirements, and most importantly, it must maintain transparency by publicly sharing the code and requiring authors to establish a data sharing mechanism. It must use the STARMETHODS template. The submission difficulty is really not low.
