Normally, you will receive one not-so-positive review. The editor may like the article and want to seek another reviewer to salvage it. When you push for submission at this time, the editor may simply reject it without making much effort. Never rush the submission when the article is under review. It is recommended to wait at least four months. If there is still no news after four months, inquire with the technical staff to find out the current status.

This article has been submitted to multiple journals. After the last rejection from NC, Comms Bio was recommended, as it was said to be an easy choice. Unexpectedly, the editor was very efficient, completing peer review within a month each time. He responded to my emails within an hour each time, but was extremely strict. Surprisingly, there were 6 rounds of reviews. Each reviewer wrote responses of over 1000 words. I am not in China and not in a hurry with work, but for those who are eager to graduate, it might be best to avoid. On December 12th, the manuscript was submitted; on the 17th, an editor was assigned; on the 19th, the Initial Manuscript Review and Editor Review started. The status was changed to Under Review on the same day, and then the system went on Christmas break.
