The journal has a very fast review process, with the first round of revisions coming back in just one month after submission. However, it took almost another month for the revised manuscript to be re-evaluated. Overall, it took a little over two months from submission to acceptance.

The Brazilian Journal of Chemical Engineering's own submission system is not working, so it is impossible to submit new manuscripts. However, using the accompanying system from Springer Nature, manuscripts can be submitted and quickly go through technical checks, plagiarism checks, and be assigned to an editor. However, after reaching the "with editor" status, it has been over a week and there has been no progress. The system status says "You have an editor assessing your submission," but how long will this status continue? The manuscript has not been sent for review, and the wait is becoming frustrating. Comments in the section mention that there will be different reviewers for the first and second rounds of review, which I can understand because Springer Nature randomly assigns reviewers. I reviewed a manuscript from domestic authors in September, which was already in the revision status when I received it. I initially thought of collaborating by reviewing one manuscript in September, but it seems like I have fallen into a trap. This journal is really slow.

It was too slow. What’s more, when I returned the manuscripts after the first review, the reviewers were unexpectedly changed. The reviewers’ comments of the primary review were completely negated by the reviewers’ comments of the second review. I decisively gave up this journal!

This journal has two advantages: 1. Cheap (no fees) and 2. Few technical requirements. The review speed is slow, however. My publication took an entire year to get published!
