CGJ, the latest Chinese Academy of Sciences division in 2025, belongs to engineering category 3 and engineering geology subcategory 4. This will definitely make it difficult for them to receive a sufficient number of excellent submissions from mainland China in the future. Moreover, this journal relies heavily on submissions from mainland China, so its situation will only get worse. Therefore, do not dwell on the past of the "big four journals" or "big three journals", look ahead.

The three major geotechnical journals you mentioned should be ranked in order of authority: Geotechnique > JGGE > CGJ. However, without publishing in Zone 1, it is not really impactful.
