This is the second time our team has successfully targeted CATENA in the past three years, with a current record of "six submissions, two acceptances". I submitted this paper in November 2025, received feedback before the Chinese New Year (R1), made two revisions (R2, R3), and finally received acceptance in early April 2026. The focus of my paper is on soil microbial respiration, and it is a meta-analysis. There were three reviewers, one of whom consistently raised questions, including a debate on the difference between soil biomass and soil microbial biomass, indicating the rigor of the peer review process. Additionally, I believe that the cover letter is crucial. I used to use a template downloaded from the internet for cover letters, simply changing the title. However, when I started writing them sincerely and even highlighting the novelty of my research, I noticed a positive impact. I recommend others to give it a try.
