I also really like CM. The comments I've read all say it's been rated as a 2nd tier, but they don't realize that CM has already been divided into three tiers (based on the performance rewards of the school). In ACS, apart from ACS AMI (also the best ACS journal, except Omega), the rest are all very classic journals. Inorganic IC, organic JOC OL, polymer Macromolecules, ACS Macro L, physical chemistry JPC, materials comprehensive CM, of course, there is also the big brother JACS, these are all internationally authoritative journals. Although the impact factors are relatively low, it does not affect their status in the hearts of researchers (everyone knows how virtual impact factors are).

Journals cannot be measured by impact factor and partition. My American boss really likes CM ACS Nano and Langmuir, in addition to PNAS. She is a member of the National Academy of Sciences. I even told students the other day not to mention CEJ to me. I don't like it and won't submit to it (of course, maybe they don't like my work either, but I always review for CEJ, the quality of the articles is not so good). Unless you have submitted to someone else's door, I highly recommend CM ACS Nano and even Langmuir. Teachers, especially PIs, should also have the backbone of researchers. Don't just look for top-tier journals because of evaluations and student scholarships.

Professor JN, a French editor, replied with comments on the deep eutectic ionic gel materials within one month. The revised manuscript should be resubmitted in two months with formatting changes. It is very difficult to win over journals like CEJ, JMCA, ACS AMI. I don't know how much stronger the articles in this journal are compared to those. The articles in this journal have a very deep level of mechanism, much deeper than AFM. Most of the authors (70-80%) are foreigners, there are not many Chinese authors. The first few questions are not a big deal. Even the few journals under Cell are rarely classified into the third tier. The third tier is basically small NC SA JACS Angew AM PNAS PRL. The fifth tier is mostly industry journals, and the ones you mentioned are not well recognized. The more comprehensive journals usually only reach the fourth tier at most. The classification of the fifth tier depends on the department and field you are in, for example, polymers would look at Macromolecules, biomaterials at Biomaterials JCR, analytical chemistry at AC, and so on.

You are right, the quality of papers on CM is absolutely classic. Some journals can be ignored in terms of their impact factor, such as 1/2/3/4. The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) ranking in part 5 and the remaining journals do have some reference value. There are not many domestic journals that match both quality and impact factor.

The process is a bit long. Submission on 6.2, major revision on 7.19, minor revision on 8.18, acceptance on 9.20, proofreading on 10.7. The publication is estimated to be on 10.10, which is over four months. The French editors are rather slow.
