At the end of April, I submitted to ANGEW, but was rejected by XinSu and then transferred to AFM. After 2.5 months of review by three people, with two positive and one negative feedback, I made major revisions and resubmitted. However, 18 days later, I was rejected again (two accepted, one rejected). Unwilling to give up, I appealed and after a week the editor agreed, giving me the opportunity to make major revisions and bringing in a fourth expert for arbitration, resulting in minor revisions. A week later, I finally received acceptance. Overall, I guess good things do come to those who wait.

One characteristic I have discovered about AM and AFM is that when they want to reject a submission, they will keep dragging it along, keeping it in the submission status without assigning it to an editor. Both of my submissions were like this, and I can't understand why they don't just reject it outright if they have already made the decision. Instead, they keep it in submission status for about two weeks before assigning it to an editor, and then take another three to four days to reject it. It's a total of twenty days of dragging things out. Very frustrating.
