The journals under MDPI are getting better and better! The editors are friendly and the reviewers are professional. I submitted a narrative review for a special issue, and within 1-2 days an editor was assigned and the manuscript was sent for external review. After 2+ weeks, I received reviewers' comments and entered round 1, with 3 reviewers and the special issue editor raising about 20 questions, requiring a response within 10 days. After addressing each comment and revising, I received feedback in about 3-4 days, with 2 reviewers agreeing to accept and 1 raising 2 more questions. As I did not receive feedback from the editor, we entered round 2, with a response required in about 3-4 days. After revising, I received approval from the last reviewer, but then received additional editing suggestions from the editor. After revising and completing the proof, the APC was about 2000CHF, with a 10% discount due to a contract with my school/hospital. It took about 3 days from acceptance to online publication. I really appreciate this speed! The overall experience was very good!
