Today, I accepted a last-minute submission on June 20th, sent it for review on July 13th, received the initial review back on August 14th (major revisions), sent it back for revisions on August 20th, received it back on September 3rd (minor revisions), and submitted it again on September 4th. We are now waiting for a decision on September 15th. I accepted another last-minute submission on September 17th.

The follow-up is roughly as follows: I emailed the editor, saying that the opinions of two reviewers were not consistent, so a third reviewer was brought in to arbitrate. 
On July 22, 2026, I received the results, with major revisions and four review comments, the last of which required additional experiments. 
Returned on August 18. 
Sent for external review on August 20. 
Awaiting decision on August 24. 
Provisional acceptance on the evening of August 24. 
Formal acceptance on the afternoon of August 26.
