Food Research International provides a forum for the rapid dissemination of significant novel and high impact research in food science, technology, engineering and nutrition. The journal only publishes novel, high quality and high impact review papers, original research papers and letters to the editors, in the various disciplines encompassing the science and technology of food. It is journal policy to publish special issues on topical and emergent subjects of food research or food research-related areas. Special issues of selected, peer-reviewed papers from scientific meetings, workshops, conferences on the science, technology and engineering of foods will be also published.

The second review took nearly three months. Two reviewers from the first round dropped out, and a new reviewer was added in the second round. However, both reviewers in the second round did not raise any new issues and agreed to accept the submission directly.

First review with 4 reviewers, received a lot of comments and conducted several new experiments. After the first revision, 3 reviewers provided feedback, 2 accepted the changes but 1 requested major revisions. However, the issues mentioned were not feasible to address. The second revision mainly focused on editing the paper and adding more discussion. Now, all we can do is hope for the best as it has been almost six months since submission. The editor typically works on weekends, processing submissions on both Saturdays and Sundays.

I have also gone through two major revisions, just returned from the second revision yesterday. In the first review, there were 4 reviewers, 2 minor revisions and 2 major revisions. In the second review, there were 3 reviewers, 2 approved it and one still requires major revision. Now, should I send it back to the editor or to that reviewer? There haven't been any additional experimental content added, mainly just modifications and additions to the discussion. I'm not sure if it will pass or not.
