It took about 7 months from submission to acceptance. The topic of my paper aligns well with the scope of the journal, and after the first round of revisions, the reviewer's comments were concise and constructive. The revised draft based on the reviewer's comments showed a significant improvement in quality. I submitted another draft to this journal yesterday, and the submission page clearly stated that the journal is currently overwhelmed with a large number of submissions, leading to delays in processing. Subjectively, I believe that my paper's topic and quality align perfectly with the scope of this journal, so I submitted it with high hopes, despite the backlog.

As a CCF A journal, with lower submission requirements in the past, many people have submitted their papers, so the journal is likely to be more selective now, with stricter quality standards. Please wish me luck!

How long has the status with AE been ongoing? Does with AE mean all opinions have been received, or just some of them?

Two-party secure computation paper: The second round of reviews gave major revisions, but one reviewer kept mentioning that the paper contains a large number of mathematical formulas and cryptographic symbols, making it difficult to read and not suitable for readers outside the security field. Another opinion is that my experimental evaluation criteria only focus on execution latency and communication bandwidth, rather than important system overhead (aren't execution latency and communication bandwidth the same in secure computation? That's how existing papers do it), scalability (the paper tested different input scale data, consistent with existing papers, don't know what he wants), robustness (never heard of it). Still no separate module ablation experiments (the paper is so big, the subheadings are hard to see).

He gave a rejection opinion. For a paper on secure computation, it is hard to imagine such comments in a cryptography journal. The other two reviewers accepted it with minor revisions.

This kind of subjective opinion is really tough. Who understands, what does he want?

The submission was made in April 2024, and it has been 10 months now. The first round of feedback hasn't come back yet, despite reminding them twice. Editor Wang, I'm anxious to graduate. Later, I heard from friends that this journal is very biased, with mostly articles from insiders. Editor Wang has now been removed from the journal, replaced by Dan Lin as the new editor. I hope to receive the results quickly.

This team is really terrible. The initial draft was submitted in December 2023, and it wasn't until December 2024 that the status finally changed from "in peer review" to "with AE" (after being reminded twice by the admin). Then there was a complete two-month silence with no updates. Yesterday, after reminding them about the manuscript, they promptly rejected it today with only one AE review and no other reviewers. It's really disappointing and a waste of one year. The review comments were very general, only mentioning lack of novelty and not being suitable for their journal. It was completely unhelpful. I can't believe that my article from 2023 was dragged on until 2025. If they couldn't find a reviewer, they should have rejected it earlier. I suspect they didn't even try. The system is outdated and there were no updates in between. I advise everyone to avoid wasting time on this journal unless they have plenty of time to spare.
