Submitted in 202407, received recommendation for reviewers via email after about a week, then went from assigning for review to under review; Received first round of comments on 20240828, one minor revision and one rejection, with positive feedback from the assistant editor; Conducted additional experiments and major revisions, resubmitted on 20241012; Accepted on 20241231. Recently also had successful submissions in the same field to CEJ and CES. Overall, each of the three journals has its own strengths: AIChE values the practicality and workload of the paper, as well as the outstanding contributions to the field, with a higher recognition in smaller fields and more conducive to applying for funding; CEJ is more friendly for job-seeking, focusing on hot issues and innovation; CES is more conservative, prioritizing theoretical research. In terms of review times, all three journals are similar, with turnaround for review comments typically within 1-2 months.
