Following the submission guidelines strictly, the overall submission experience was relatively smooth. Four reviewers, editor requested major revision, took a month. All were professional comments, greatly helped improve the article. Made some formatting changes as requested by the editor upon resubmission. Accepted soon after. The whole process took two months.

ACS efficiency is high! 
Submissions are quickly assigned to editors and sent for review; 
Two weeks later, first round of reviews come back with minor revisions from all three reviewers, and major revisions from the editor; 
Another 2 weeks to make revisions and resubmit; 
Acceptance after second round of reviews is another 2 weeks. 
From submission to acceptance is about 1 and a half months in total.

Submitted on September 22, the first round of review was in early October. The email from the teacher after the first submission was too absolute, saying my submission was rejected. It took 10 days for me to find out about it. The review feedback came back at the end of October, with additional comments in mid-November. I made the revisions within a week and sent it back. The editor pointed out formatting issues, which I fixed and sent back in a day. It took about two days for the acceptance. My advice to all of you is to make sure you modify the format according to the journal's requirements when revising, even if it seems troublesome at first. It's essential to adjust the format after the first round of review
