I didn't expect to receive any comments, so I forgot to reply. When I resubmitted, I included a cover letter and rebutted the reviewers' comments in detail, but it didn't make a difference. Later, I transferred to Physical Review Fluids and got accepted in less than a month.

Based on my understanding of JFM and discussions with many colleagues, JFM leans more towards mechanics and mathematics. Although it also involves some physics, if you want to present your work from a physics perspective, it may not be suitable for JFM's taste. I suggest POF, PRF, or PRE instead.

In my case, I introduced a new scaling index for turbulent cascade from the perspective of emergence in nonlinear physical systems, which seems to not align with JFM's preferences. It would be more appropriate if I focused on introducing new scalings and their impacts on turbulent kinetic energy and mass/heat transfer.

After reading many comments, I have a personal opinion that many scholars and students are overly fixated on certain journals, which is unnecessary. Academic achievements require broad recognition, and it is better to publish in well-respected, rigorously peer-reviewed journals within the corresponding community.

Currently, in China, achievements are measured by journal publications, which has caused much confusion. I hope that one day, instead of emphasizing publishing in a specific journal, we focus on the discoveries made and encourage each other.
