The Journal of Food Composition and Analysis publishes manuscripts on scientific aspects of data on the chemical composition of human foods, with particular emphasis on actual data on composition of foods; analytical methods; studies on the manipulation, storage, distribution and use of food composition data; and studies on the statistics, use and distribution of such data and data systems. The Journal's basis is nutrient composition, with increasing emphasis on bioactive non-nutrient and anti-nutrient components. Papers must provide sufficient description of the food samples, analytical methods, quality control procedures and statistical treatments of the data to permit the end users of the food composition data to evaluate the appropriateness of such data in their projects.

The Journal does not publish papers on: microbiological compounds; sensory quality; aromatics/volatiles in food and wine; essential oils; organoleptic characteristics of food; physical properties; or clinical papers and pharmacology-related papers.

The first review process was relatively fast, giving major revisions in about 20 days. After revisions, the first two reviewers finished quickly, but the third one dragged on until after the Chinese New Year. The review comments were all returned on February 12th, and on the 19th it became DIP. Praying for a good result, feeling a bit worried.

The editor in charge of handling manuscripts is very responsible. The review process may be extended during Christmas, New Year, and Spring Festival. In the first round of reviews, the editor sent review invitations to 20 people, 8 accepted, and 7 completed the review. However, the editor only provided feedback on 5 reviews, with 3 minor revisions and 2 major revisions. After revisions, the editor sent review invitations to 6 people, 5 accepted, and all 5 completed the review with minor revisions accepted.

It should be 8-10 days, under review. 10 sent 2, the editor didn't send much either, I don't know if they went on vacation. Now both have completed the review, rrc status. Still haven't received the editor's email.

I submitted my work to 3 experts for review. It is possible that RRC could become UR, either due to conflicting opinions or because the experts' opinions are too superficial, which I have encountered before.

The submission was made on December 3rd, and it has been under review by the editor for about 4 or 5 days. There was one revision with the editor on the 9th. It is still under review by the editor. Any experienced experts know what's going on?

What makes me angry is that the editor recommended three OA journals to me and said that if I agree to transfer, I can accept the paper without external review. It really disgusts me.

The article went through major revisions, minor revisions, and ultimately rejection. Both reviewers for the major revision disappeared, so a third reviewer was assigned for the second round of revisions, who approved my changes and provided minor revisions. After the second round of revisions, three new reviewers were assigned for the third round, and one of them recommended rejection. The editor then made the decision to reject the article. Many of the criticisms from the reviewer who recommended rejection were not professional, such as "I mention processing 80 plant samples at once, but the reviewer believes it is unrealistic." The majority of the unprofessional criticisms were along those lines. The rejection letter from editor Gayatri Bakshi stated, "The reviewer advised against publishing your paper in this journal and hence I have no option but to reject it." I am considering appealing this decision, although I doubt it will be successful. It is truly frustrating.

The revised submission has been successfully accepted after the major revisions. It may be that the foreign editor processes manuscripts at a relatively slower pace.

The editor is responsible and diligent, with a fast turnaround time for processing manuscripts. The submission deadline was delayed once due to the National Day holiday.
