The review process is strict, reviewers pay close attention to details and ask meaningful questions, and the editors are strict in their quality control.
It is a well-known old journal in the industry with influence, many classic and important works are published in JPC, but the impact factor is too low, and it is quickly falling out of the third quartile.
The journal is fast-paced, with the whole process of four reviews and three revisions taking only about two months. Publishing a paper as a representative work is possible, but in the current environment in China where only the quartile and IF matter, publishing just one paper seems to settle everything (sincerely hoping that JPC can rise again).

The professor said it is an old journal, but the impact factor is really low. Also, the requirements are very strict, and the review process is really long. However, overall, the questions asked are numerous but quite valuable.

Yes. When I look at someone's resume, if they have experience working with JPC, I would consider them to be solid and reliable, although not necessarily top-notch. On the other hand, if they have a bunch of articles from so-called "first-tier" journals that I can't even name, which seem to have a high impact factor, I would actually have a poor impression because they are likely just popular articles.

My boss has been in the field for too long and has talked to me about this series of journals. Before it split, this journal was called the Journal of Physical Chemistry, which was a top-tier journal in the field of physical chemistry. Later, when biochemistry became popular, it split into JPCB, and then when materials chemistry became popular, it split into JPCC. As a result, the original domain of JPC, or the traditional domain, was divided into JPCA, which represents the least trendy part, causing a reverse impact factor flow - JPCA < JPCB < JPCC. Personally, I think that publishing in JPC is highly recognized in various fields. As for JPCA, it still has a strong influence in the various sub-domains it covers. Although its impact factor is low, it is not embarrassing to have representative papers published in it.
