This submission is too insane, I have no strength to comment. It was transferred from ACS Applied Electronic Materials, and after one major revision and one minor revision, the reviewer of the minor revision gave very positive feedback, stating that there was no need to send it back to them for further review, and it could be accepted directly. However, the problem lies with reviewer 1 of the major revision, who has caused delays up until July 2025 with four rounds of major revisions. Additionally, this reviewer habitually takes a month to provide feedback on each revision, causing the whole process to be extremely slow. After four rounds of revisions, reviewer 1 still insisted on major revisions, which frustrated the editor. The editor directly informed the corresponding author that they only needed to make changes according to reviewer 1's comments and the manuscript would not be sent back to them for review, but a new reviewer would be found instead. Feeling disgusted, I withdrew the submission in anger. It's too insane, and the JCR has dropped to Q3, so withdrawing the submission doesn't matter to me. I will submit it to another Q1 journal instead.

Three days after submission, the deputy editor was assigned. Two days later, the manuscript was rejected for being too application-oriented.

Without any changes, it was then submitted to PCCP and accepted after two rounds of revisions. Interestingly, the reviewers at PCCP even suggested adding more application descriptions.

The formatting was modified to match the style of "Journal of Physical Chemistry C."
