It is worth commemorating the first time as a supervising teacher and corresponding author to publish a paper in JMPS. From submission to the first round of review took only about a month, and the three reviewers all gave minor revision suggestions; after carefully revising, it was smoothly accepted in about another month, the whole process was straightforward and very smooth. What makes me even more gratified than the acceptance of the paper itself is that the students are even happier and more excited than I am. For them, this is the first time to publish a paper in JMPS; for me, this is the first time to complete this important milestone as a supervising teacher and corresponding author. This is not only the publication of a paper, but also a new starting point on the research group's growth path, hoping to complete more high-quality research work with the students in the future.

During my doctoral study, I submitted JMPS three times and finally got one accepted before graduation. Originally, I planned to write two papers to submit to IJMS or other journals, but at the request of my supervisor, I combined them into a long paper to submit to JMPS. After a year of preparation, two months of initial review, and one month of revisions, it was finally accepted.

Looking back on my doctoral career at the engineering school, I squeezed research into the endless sideways projects, studying constitutive models and failure theories without guidance from my supervisor or senior colleagues. The first two years of research were hindered by lack of equipment for crucial experiments, and it wasn't until the year of the school closure due to the epidemic that I had the opportunity to focus on theoretical research. I took many detours over the years, often losing confidence in my research. While my peers were publishing papers on energy and materials, I struggled to write even one paper on mechanics theory in a year. As graduation approaches, I have one paper accepted by JMPS, one by IJSS, and two in the field of energy. Given the research environment I am in, I believe I have done my best.

Recently, my supervisor has been encouraging me to pursue a postdoc, but I feel I lack the connections, outstanding papers, and financial support to compete with the increasing number of graduate students and the higher standards of universities in recent years.

As for journals, I have witnessed the transformation of top journals from the Chinese Academy of Sciences to non-top journals in recent years, but I believe fellow solid mechanics researchers have their own considerations. I hope all my research colleagues can publish in their ideal journals, and I sincerely wish the younger students starting their research careers to have a good research environment and a successful graduate career.
