A few years ago, the review process for this journal was quite fast. The fastest time was 20 days from submission to acceptance, and the longest was only 50 days. The editors were quite friendly, from what I experienced. Is it really so slow now? I just checked and found that it is in JCR Zone 2 in the WoS classification. This long-standing friction journal of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers is actually highly recognized in the United States, comparable to Trib Ini over a decade ago. However, its database is too expensive, many schools cannot afford it, and it is difficult to cite articles from it. Secondly, ASME's database has strong anti-piracy measures, making it hard to find its articles on websites like Scihub. As a result, the impact factor of this journal has not increased in recent years and has even declined significantly, giving the impression that it is stubbornly refusing to adapt to the current trends, or perhaps it is not willing to compromise for the sake of its impact factor. Submitted in May, received the first review comments after one month, given two weeks to make revisions.
