I helped someone revise their paper and submitted it to LANDUP. The reviewers were quite strict, with two negative and one positive review, pointing out many issues in the paper. The problems identified were similar to what I had noticed before, but I didn't want to make too many rounds of revisions before submitting it, so I suggested they give it a try first. Unfortunately, it didn't turn out well.

Overall, the feedback was constructive and the process was not slow. It changed my previous impression that there are many papers with loose quality control on LANDUP (as I have been a co-author and have reviewed LANDUP multiple times, giving reject results several times, but the editor still asked for major revisions). I recommend trying it for papers in the field of landscape geography.

Submitted on Jul 01, 2025, accepted on Dec 09, 2025. The first round of review took two and a half months, with minor revisions requested. After revising, it was sent for review for another month and a half, followed by minor revisions again, and then accepted after the revisions. Overall, the process felt very efficient, especially with the quick handling by the editor and a review period shorter than expected. The opinions of the three reviewers were particularly professional, and their expertise in the specific field was evident in their feedback, which greatly helped improve the article. Co-editor Weiqi Zhou was efficient in his work, and I am very grateful for that.

I had three reviewers:
The first one was relatively positive, very careful in reviewing, even noticed the typos, basically asked for minor revisions and gave a few suggestions;
The second one was neutral, basically asked for major revisions and gave a few comments;
The third one nitpicked on various aspects, criticized the title, lack of innovation, and provided various reasons, directly recommending rejection.
Finally rejected. I emailed the editor explaining the situation, also told him that I will revise according to the reviewers' comments, and explained the revision plan, hoping for a chance to resubmit. However, the editor replied that since I did not have the support of all the reviewers, they could not change the decision to reject.
In this case, can I still resubmit?

There is a high chance of getting rehired after resubmission. In our case, after major revisions were made and resubmitted, we were accepted after only minor revisions, with the same reviewer as before

In a similar situation as mine, I withdrew and resubmitted. After resubmission, it still went through three reviewers and took over six months. However, it came back as a major revision and was accepted directly after the changes were made. From the first submission to the final acceptance, it took nearly two years.
