However, in the latest ranking released by "New Trends" in March 2026, the journal was downgraded to the second tier, which is truly a low-level move. Meanwhile, Molecules under MDPI has been promoted from the third tier to the second tier top, sitting on par with Macromolecules. I believe that downgrading Macromolecules to the second tier is similar to the move to downgrade the top journal in metal materials, Acta Materialia, a stroke of genius.
