One reviewer, in the first round, asked for a bunch of experiments to be added, but I decisively rejected and casually added some miscellaneous data as support. In the second round, they requested minor revisions, but the supposed 4 questions raised were clearly automated and not actual issues, but rather praising the first round modifications.

On June 11, 2026, I wrote a letter to the editor criticizing this, and the next day it was accepted.

Submission on January 17, 2026.
After waiting for 3 months, I found out through the Elsevier journal tracking system that they couldn't find suitable reviewers. The editor sent out two rounds of invitations, but after three months, only one reviewer provided feedback. Feeling that the process was taking too long, I sent a reminder email, and the next day the review was completed. I have no idea where the editor found another reviewer. Both reviewers' comments were relatively mild, suggesting minor revisions.

Returned manuscript on April 25, 2026.
On May 1, 2026, the editor said my responses were too soft and asked for more assertive revisions, which was a new experience for me.
Returned manuscript on May 10, 2026.
Accepted on May 13, 2026.

The whole process took 4 months. I believe it could have been quicker if reviewers were found more efficiently.
