One of the reviewers said my work was too comprehensive and lacked foresight, stating that my introduction, XRD and SEM characterization did not address the issue. Can I appeal this? I prepared this article according to the standards of the journal's usual Zone 1 submissions, with rich characterization and experimental data, including TEM and in-situ XPS. There were two reviewers, and the editor requested major revisions, which took a month to complete. Just before the New Year, the revised manuscript was sent back, and the editor, likely Chinese, sent it for a second review on the first day after the New Year holiday. One reviewer was still not satisfied and insisted on citing his literature, but the editor ignored him and accepted the manuscript. After acceptance, the paperwork was filled out, and the manuscript was officially published within 2 days.
