This journal is ridiculous, it's been over four months and they still haven't sent it for review. If they don't want it, they should just reject it directly, it's a waste of people's time.

Hmm, I submitted to SHM in mid-May, with a number of 34xx. Similar experience, the first time 4-1, the second time invited 4 more, for a total of 4 accepted for review (suddenly got one more accepted a few days ago). Currently 8-5-3, transitioning from RRC to UR. Currently in UR status-----

At least 2 reviewers are required for the initial review. The first invitation for review did not meet the minimum requirement, so a second invitation was sent out and 4 reviewers accepted. The number of reviewers for revisions was reduced to 2, which I don't quite understand. My guess is that this is due to the editors choosing the reviewers, as the two experts chosen did not ask very challenging questions during the initial review.

Which direction did you submit it to? You can scroll through the comments below, there are many people saying that A and G submissions take 3 months to be reviewed, it's also possible that it's holiday season now, maybe the editors are taking a break.
