I have reviewed manuscripts for Physica Scripta multiple times. Based on my experience, the first review usually takes around 12 days, depending on the specific situation of the manuscript. The editorial decision (major revision, minor revision, or acceptance) is made after the author's revisions, and the subsequent review times may vary, but do not exceed the time of the first review. 

Recently, I reviewed a manuscript that went through 4 rounds of review with three reviewers. After the first review, the editor requested minor revisions. After the revisions, the other two reviewers had no further comments and recommended publication. However, after carefully analyzing the manuscript, I found issues with the theoretical derivation and errors in the formulas, so I requested two more rounds of revisions. 

Although many may not understand the details, it is important for the paper to withstand scrutiny in the future. I feel that the review speed of this journal is quite fast.

May I ask if the first reviewer agreed to review the manuscript for over ten days, then it showed that a new reviewer was being sought, and three days later it showed that at least four reviewers had started reviewing the manuscript. I have published several papers in this journal and often review manuscripts for peer review. Overall, I feel that it is relatively easy to get published here, but the process is slow. I would not recommend submitting to this journal if you are in a hurry to graduate. 

My most recent submission experience was as follows: I submitted on February 25, 2025, and found three reviewers. On April 4, 2025, I received the first round of reviews, all of which were quite positive, but required major revisions from the editor. I submitted the revised manuscript on April 25, 2025. On May 22, 2025, I received the second round of reviews, one reviewer had no further comments, but the other two provided additional feedback. I submitted the final revision on May 27, 2025. On June 24, 2025, I received the final decision, which was a provisional acceptance. It usually takes several more days to receive formal acceptance, and I estimate that the paper will not be officially published until September... Overall, the entire process is just too slow.
