The timeline is roughly as follows:

Two more months until quickly transitioning from awaiting recommendation to awaiting decision to minor revision (these three changes took about 2-3 weeks)
Resubmitted for revision on August 2, 2023
Three more months of no change in status, so in early November, an email was sent through the system to inquire about the progress, with copies to the editor-in-chief and the email address that notifies successful submissions (neither the editor-in-chief nor the associate editors replied, but a week later the system status changed);
A week later, status changed to awaiting recommendation
5 days later, awaiting decision (all three reviewers recommended acceptance)
A week later, the acceptance notice was issued. The editor-in-chief seems to prefer handling manuscripts on Monday and Friday mornings in North America, which corresponds to Monday and Friday nights around 9-11pm in China
In summary, the journal is not bad. At least there are progress changes after reminders. Hopefully, the processing speed will continue to increase, starting from me to review without delay!

The editorial process is slow. The journal is listed in the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE) as a Tier 2 journal, with a not particularly high impact factor, but has a decent reputation in the industry. As rumored, the processing speed of the article is very slow, but according to observations, the review speed of the article is very fast. Most of the time is wasted on formatting review ('Peer review in process'). During this period, emails were not replied to, which is really annoying. I even thought about withdrawing the submission. The first review took two months, with not many comments. The second review took about three weeks, and the editor took a week to handle it. Finally, it was accepted. The difficulty of the journal is not great, but the whole process is too long, almost a year. Specific timeline is as follows:

After acceptance, final files need to be submitted. The submission system does not provide a button for this, so it needs to be sent via the "contact journal" function in the submission system. Attachments are limited to 6MB; if they exceed this limit, the editor will only receive an email without the attachment. The decisions for major and minor revisions were almost always returned by reviewers on Thursday or Friday, and the Associate Editor made the decision on the following Monday. This final decision took more time for some reason. Lastly, I would like to thank my advisor, the editor, and the reviewers. The reviewers were very efficient, taking a little over a month for the first review and about a week for the second and third reviews. They were very timely.
