I have submitted RSE several times, and this time finally received positive feedback from the external review. In the first round of reviews, three reviewers provided over 20 comments, to which I responded with over 50 pages of revisions, essentially rewriting most of the main text. After the first round of revisions, I received a second round of comments, which I decided to accept. However, I then received a few more comments in a third round. Luckily, I managed to get the paper published in RSE just before graduating with my Ph.D.
