Indeed, in the past, I basically never encountered a situation where a submission couldn't be reviewed (I have published 6 articles in the past 22 years), but now the review requirements have become extremely unreasonable. I heard a deputy editor say that the journal editor is only accepting papers with strong practicality, high citation potential, and in popular directions in order to quickly increase the impact factor. So now the probability of submission is controlled at 10%, meaning only 1 out of 10 submissions can be reviewed, and the other rejection reasons are generally due to not meeting the scope of the journal. Since the new editor took office, the number of articles in each issue has significantly decreased since September, the proportion of domestic papers has also decreased, and the themes are mainly focused on hot topics such as metamaterials, acoustic structures, machine learning, acoustic sensing, and soundscapes, with few exceptions being submissions made before September.

Some editors of this journal are really incredible.
One month for the first review to give minor revisions (R1 gave 5 easily modifiable suggestions, R2 accepted without comments (not someone I know))
One month for the second review to give major revisions (R1 accepted, R2 seems not invited. Editor found another R3, who gave five suggestions but all relatively easy to fix)
Currently, for the third review, two reviewers have been invited (definitely including R3, but not sure about R1)
On February 8, 2026, returned for revisions for 10 days, the incredible editor added another reviewer invitation. Currently 0 1 3.
The number of reviewers is unknown, currently R1 accepted in the second review, R2 accepted in the first review, R3 returned for major revisions.
Who would have thought that a manuscript given minor revisions in the first review would now require the input of R4 and R5? This editor is truly incredible.
The only advantage of this journal is its fast review process, but in cases like mine, is the average time really that quick??
