The manuscript went through nearly 8 months of submission, major revisions, and minor revisions. During the minor revision, an author who was added during the major revision was removed (with their agreement). However, after the minor revision was submitted, the editorial team rejected the manuscript citing inconsistency in authorship. I am not familiar with the journal's policy in this regard, as there was no mention of this issue in previous emails. Is there any chance to appeal this decision? Any advice from colleagues who have had similar experiences would be appreciated!
