After being unsubmitted twice following submission, it was stated that the WB raw data did not meet the requirements. Even after making modifications and resubmitting, it was still deemed unsuitable. Following a third submission, the publishing assistant directly rejected the manuscript with the message: "After careful evaluation of your manuscript I regret to inform you that I do not find your manuscript suitable for publication in Food & Function as you have not provided suitable raw data (full length blot images) to support your manuscript." We submitted raw images that included all four edges and the protein ladder. Frankly, we are unsure of how it did not meet the requirements. It may be due to the membranes being cut or different antibodies being applied separately. However, we have seen published papers with cut membranes. It seems that caution should be exercised when submitting manuscripts with Western blot data. On the bright side, the unsubmitted emails were received promptly, within one working day, minimizing the time wasted.
