The submission was accepted after more than 7 months. It took 3 months after submission to begin inviting reviewers. After the first major revision, two reviewers provided about thirty comments, many of which required significant rewriting and re-doing of statistical results. It was almost despairing, but fortunately everything was okay after the revision (although it took 2 and a half months for each reviewer to provide just one sentence of feedback, just saying it was okay, so it was unclear what they were doing during that time). The second round of revisions was due to personal reasons, as there were many surgical images and some overlapped with another article of mine. I had to request to replace the images with the editorial office during the second revision, delaying the process by a week.

Overall, the submission process for the journal was relatively straightforward. While the language could be improved, the feedback from reviewers was acceptable.

Received in less than three months, the editing process was relatively fast. It was sent for external review within a week, with modifications taking one week in the middle. After receiving feedback from two reviewers, the paper was accepted directly. It seems that the focus is mainly on the specific field, so to determine the overall average speed, one should look at the acceptance time of similar papers in the field. On average, papers in my field take about three to four months to be accepted, so receiving acceptance in less than three months is considered normal and quite fast. If the average acceptance time is fast, then it's fast; if it's slow, then it's slow.

The speed is acceptable, and it should be good to encounter responsible editors with a mainstream direction. The wait for proofreading is not short, at least it is quite slow in the open source. The speed of online publication after proofreading is still acceptable. Currently, it can be retrieved in WOS, but it is not known when it will be included in SCIE. It seems that it is not based on publication time, as articles from various time periods in WOS have already been included in SCIE, while some are only temporarily included in Medline.

The second round of review just came back, not very fast, a bunch of reviewers recommending their own articles. The submission was made on March 16th, and the second round of review feedback just came back on July 26th, after constant reminders. The reviewers have disappeared, and the editors have not responded (possibly disappeared too). Is it worth paying 20,000 for this?
