Why did I receive a rejection after submitting a revise and resubmit, a minor revision, and a major revision?

The whole process lasted 231 days, going through four rounds of review and three revisions.

I am very grateful for the diligent work of the editors and all the reviewers at TAFFC, especially the last reviewer who efficiently and carefully helped improve the paper. Each review comment is actually an opportunity to re-examine the work, and it has helped me gain a deeper understanding of research.

This article is also my first paper published in a top journal in the 1st district of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, which is very significant for an ordinary student like me. I want to thank all the people who have helped and encouraged me along the way, as well as the experienced predecessors in the community who have shared their experiences, making me less anxious during the long wait.

I hope this experience can provide some reference for fellow students who are submitting papers, and I wish everyone can receive the good news they are expecting!

When I submitted to TAFFC, I was actually very confused. As an ordinary student, I didn't have much research experience or reference to rely on. I basically explored on my own, but seeing many seniors in the community sharing their submission experiences gave me great comfort and confidence during the long review process.

It was quite challenging. The review comments of this journal were very professional and to the point, providing many key points for improvement. After receiving the comments, I spent 2 months conducting experiments and rewriting the majority of the article in order to improve clarity. The hard work during this process was only understood by myself.

The acceptance here is probably due to survivorship bias. Several journals that rejected my submission did not provide comments or criticisms unless it was particularly egregious.

This journal is the only TOP in the field of affective computing, with reviewers all being junior colleagues. The questions are particularly professional and tricky, requiring not only a high proficiency in artificial intelligence methods, but also a very deep understanding of the interdisciplinary nature of affective computing and specific issues. Getting accepted is not easy at all!
