I won't submit to this journal again in the future. The impact factor is high, those who understand know it's all mutual citations within China. The reviewers are dragging their feet, two reviewers took nearly three months to review, can you believe it, it's like waiting until the flowers have withered. The reviewers like to nitpick, even though the data is already sufficient for three articles, they still want to add a bunch of unsupported characterizations, it's rubbish.

Both the editor and the reviewers were very fast in their handling, and the reviewers showed a high level of expertise. It is evident that they genuinely want to provide good suggestions to improve the quality of the manuscript, unlike reviewers for other journals who may lack knowledge and give random instructions. This has left me with a very positive impression, and I wish JEC all the best, hoping for an impact factor over 20 soon!

On a personal note, I have noticed a significant improvement in both the quality and speed of JEC compared to 23 years ago. The difficulty in submitting manuscripts has also increased this year. In the past, our group would easily have three accepted papers by mid-year, but this year, only my paper has been accepted so far. This indicates that JEC is aiming for a higher journal ranking, possibly comparable to ACS Energy Letters.

The impact factor for this year is likely to exceed 15, and it may become even more challenging to submit in the future. With the Chinese Academy of Sciences promoting domestic journals, it is highly probable that the impact factor will continue to rise in the next five years. It is better to get on board early and enjoy the benefits.
