The review speed of journals is slower compared to open access journals, but similar to most mainstream non-open access journals, it is not recommended to submit urgently needed articles. I submitted my article on October 11, 2024, and the "With Editor" stage lasted nearly 4 months, with the manuscript being reviewed by the editor-in-chief. Perhaps because the article closely matched the journal's focus, it took only 7 days to receive major revision comments from two expert reviewers, which were general but targeted and helpful for improving the article. I submitted the revised manuscript on March 11, 2025, and it was accepted by the editor on April 11, 2025. The editor-in-chief and responsible editor were polite and patient. Due to personal reasons, I delayed for a month, but was granted a one-month extension during the major revision. Based on my personal experience, if there is no change in the "With Editor" stage for more than 2-3 months, it is likely that the submission has met the journal's review requirements and will be reviewed later. So please be patient and wait, as there is a high chance of acceptance if you make thorough revisions. These are my personal submission suggestions, and I hope they can help you.

The first review was quick, and the expert reviewers were quite proactive. The reviewers were very professional, and their comments were very helpful for the paper. However, for some reason, both experts have not yet accepted the second round of review.
Today, I inquired with the customer service of Elsevier, and they suggested asking the editor. This is an important article, so I hope for the best!
