Today is December 1, 2025, and the system status is still Awaiting Associate Editor Assignment. The wait for this journal is truly unbearable.

The special issue was submitted first, and five months later, the review comments were returned. Two out of three reviewers said that the manuscript did not fit the scope of the special issue and recommended submitting it to the main journal. The feedback provided was not very difficult to address. One reviewer recommended major revisions. The Associate Editor (AE) provided a rejection but suggested resubmission, while the Editor-in-Chief directly rejected the submission. After contacting the AE, the manuscript was revised and resubmitted on 28/10/2025. The assigned editor is the same one who handled it before, and they processed it quickly in the previous days. The current status is "Awaiting Associate Editor Assignment (09/11/2025)". This post is being made to record the status updates, as the submission system updates will overwrite the previous status.

Those who are eager to graduate should be cautious when submitting their work for publication. It went through two rounds of review, each lasting around 5 months. After the second round, the final opinions of the three reviewers were that two accepted and praised it as a good job, while one recommended major revisions. However, the editor rejected it outright, which was completely inexplicable. It is recommended to blacklist such journals and never submit to them again, especially for graduating students.

Those who are not in a rush to graduate can give it a try, as the reviewers and editors are very professional and have provided many targeted suggestions for the article. The only downside is that it takes too long.
