I have submitted to this journal twice, and both times encountered the same situation. The first time, one month after submission, the reviewers requested minor revisions. After submitting the revisions, there was no response for three to four months. Unable to wait any longer, I wrote to the editor to inquire about the status. The editor replied that they had found new issues and needed to send the manuscript for review again. Another month passed, and the manuscript was rejected, citing lack of innovation with no mention of the new reviewer's comments. This process wasted over five months. I initially thought it was a rare case, but the second time I submitted another article to the same journal, I encountered the same situation. After three months of no response post-revision, I contacted the editor and received the same reply about a new reviewer being invited. I used to think highly of this journal, but now I truly believe it is a garbage journal with a garbage editor. I urge everyone to be cautious when submitting to this journal!!!! If you do not believe me, I can provide email proof. This kind of journal should be removed from SCI!!!

It took three rounds of revisions before it was accepted, with each round taking about a month. The reviewers were diligent and responsible. There is another paper still in the revision process...but I decided to submit it to a different journal in order to increase diversity and gradually climb up. It was selected for the supplementary cover, but I didn't receive any payment, so I gave up. This journal still has a high level of recognition.

The review process took less than a month, and we received minor revisions after 5 days. The responsible editor is Prof. Kristala L. Jones Prather, the Vice Editor-in-Chief of MIT. The field of synthetic biology currently has limited options for submission, and both our attempts at NC and ME were rejected. ACS synthetic biology is a highly recognized journal in the field of synthetic biology, and our work is comprehensive and solid. We received the revisions in less than a month, and both the reviewers and editors were very helpful. The current Chief Editor is the renowned Huimin Zhao, and it is expected that the impact factor and influence will continue to rise.

It took more than 4 months for the first review. I revised it for about 3 weeks. It took more than 2 months for the second review. It is speculated that the reviewers delayed it. Every time I waited for the review for 2 months, I would write a letter asking about the editing progress. I wrote three times. The last time I felt that the editor also could not wait for the reviewer’s comments, and a few days after I wrote, the editor said that it was accepted. It is recommended to write to the editor if you wait for 1 to 2 months.

ACS Synthetic Biology pays more attention to the innovations of the articles. It has a free layout style, for example, the legends can be A, B, C, or a, b, c; there seems to be no limit to the amount of supplementary material, and it can be written sufficiently. The editor is nice. When replying, we fully respect the opinions of the editor and reviewers, and give a detailed answer with justification and evidence. A very promising journal.
