I am so grateful to the journal's managing editor Marina Holz for her fast and careful review. I submitted my first review article on September 25, 2024, to my first journal, with a mindset of just giving it a try. Three days later, I received a reply, and to my surprise, the editor didn't reject it outright, but instead asked me to make some revisions (including deleting some sections and adding a few relevant references) before helping me with the submission, with a deadline of two months. I added a lot of content afterwards, carefully revised the article, and created some beautiful illustrations. On November 9, I resubmitted, and after a minor revision on December 20, it went to two reviewers who pointed out some minor issues. I made the revisions on December 27, thinking that the publishing house would be closed for Christmas and New Year. However, they were actually working overtime! It was accepted on December 28 and published online on December 30, just in time for the new year. It's worth mentioning that this journal first publishes online, then proofreads, and finally replaces the online version with the proofread one very quickly. Additionally, this is a hybrid journal that allows both open access and subscription. I initially chose open access, but after acceptance, I switched to subscription, which was also possible. Thanks to BBA reviews on cancer, and thanks to Dr. Holz.

Revised on November 18, 2024, and sent to reviewers the next day.

Experience sharing: After submission, it took about 3 weeks for the review process. You can track the progress of the review through the track website provided by Elsevier in the email. Once you have received opinions from 2 reviewers, you can proceed. 
My first review took 3 months and required major revisions. The comments provided were fair and friendly, and I was able to complete the revisions and resubmit within two weeks. 
On the 3rd day after submitting the revised manuscript, the editor sent it for a second review. Within 1 day, one reviewer accepted the invitation for the second review, and within 3 days, this reviewer submitted their comments. 
After a week, the second reviewer had not accepted the invitation yet, but the editor proceeded with the review and accepted the feedback. The entire second review process only took a week, and I am grateful that the editor did not seek additional reviewers. 
In conclusion, both the editor and the reviewers were responsible and efficient. 
As a side note, one reviewer in the first review provided feedback within a day, which initially caused concern about a possible rejection due to the speed. However, both reviewers' comments were fair and friendly. 
I share this submission experience for reference and wish everyone smooth submissions.
