The submission was made in early September 2023, and in October 2023, more than 10 reviewers were invited for external review. As of January 2025, it has been two and a half months since the submission for external review and there has been no response. Is this normal? Any fellow experiences like this?

Four reviewers agreed in total, but only feedback from two reviewers came back in the end. The editor requested revisions on September 27th, giving a 14-day deadline. One reviewer raised 25 questions (a very good reviewer, gently pointing out the shortcomings of the article), while another reviewer only evaluated the data ethics. Due to a heavy workload, the author couldn't meet the 14-day deadline and requested a 10-day extension via email. Finally, the revised article was submitted on October 20th, underwent technical review, and as of October 24th, it is currently in the hands of the editor with the next steps unknown.
